Timewatch: Session Six!

Going by Wallis's reported date of death, the team showed up in 1924 a few days early, trying to get ahead of the time split (which they did). Solomon hung back at the Citadel for a moment/day/ever -- time travel tends to make that sort of distinction meaningless (their player was out). The team staked out her house and started looking for ways to find interference/figure out exactly when the event would take place.

Micah starts off with his disguise as a groundskeeper at the Spencer household (she's still married to her first husband at this point). He sees a chauffeur working on the car outside the garage in back of the house, so he wanders over and starts a conversation. He has a pleasant talk with the driver, with the result that he learns there's going to be a party on Friday and the driver isn't needed to stay and wait. He also learns that her husband is gone for quite long intervals and is not terribly close with his wife.

Caroline, in the meantime, pays a social call at the house (upon learning Wallis is at home). She meets Wallis and introduces herself as the wife of an officer on her husband's ship. She's seen into the house and Wallis greets her politely, but with no real inclination toward intimacy. Wallis gives her contact information for the Wives' Club and a couple of other wives she might contact. Given this opening, Caroline reveals that she's expecting (she's not) and is in need of a local physician. Wallis reacts appropriately, but with very little emotion. She offers congratulations and the number and address of a physician who sees to a number of the officers' wives, Dr. Harley. Wallis emphasizes that she has not seen him as they have not been "blessed" with offspring yet, but he comes highly recommended. Caroline thanks her and departs.

With that information, Jason and Kurosawa head over to Dr. Harley's office. As it's Wednesday, they suspect he will close up shop early to go golfing (and they're right). His secretary leaves by 3, and they break into the office. The building is empty, and they look for and find the records room. There they confirm that Wallis is coming in for a private appointment Monday at 8pm, after hours, and that whatever she's coming for is not clearly outlined, but rather has a small symbol as notation. Looking through other records, they discover similar patters of after-hours appointments with notated symbols, and connect that with abortion procedures based on what they know of Wallis's "death" in the forked timeline.

The team decides to hang out in timeline until Monday, just to make sure nothing happens to disrupt or move up the schedule of Wallis's death. On Friday, Wallis is scheduled to attend a party that corresponds with an entry in the calendar of the Argentine ambassador, Felipe de Espil (her lover). The group attends the party to see what happens. Caroline is the same character, hoping to get more information from Wallis. Jason is himself, the movie star. Kurosawa is a Japanese attache (it's cherry blossom time!) and Micah is house help. The party is being held by Mamie Dawes, a cousin of the vice president or some such. Micah liberates some beers and takes them out to the various drivers waiting down the street in order to make friends. The other three see Felipe come downstairs looking shaken and head to the bar. Jason tries to make friends, using his charm, and Felipe recognizes him and is a fan. He commiserates with Jason about women, suggesting what the team suspected -- that Wallis told him of her upcoming appointment, possibly being the first he'd learned of the pregnancy. Wallis comes down a bit later, looking cool and unfussed and gets a drink of bourbon on the rocks at the bar. Caroline says hello again and mentions Jason, her cousin, and Wallis is suddenly much more interested. Caroline offers to introduce them, and they move over to the bar.

Meanwhile, outside, Micah looks up and realizes that there's a shimmer in the sky, much like the one in Edinburgh, much like the one at the party in London. It looks like things are going to get a lot more exciting.

And that's where we'll pick up next time!
